About the author: George Rossolatos

George RossolatosSelf confessed design addict and technology disciple, I’ve spent the last 20 years in IT with 15 of them in the banking industry for a multi-national that consisted of around 320 staff nationwide.

It’s a familiar story: Tech moves up the ranks, progressing in seniority from Technical Support Officer through to Head of IT. Since then of course I’ve spent the last four years building up the IT function for a small warehousing company specialising in importing men’s and women’s fashion shoes.

In my previous roles I’ve had large capital and operational expenditure budgets but this latest role meant trying to do more with less. And why not? It seems that the world focus is about reducing our footprint, recycling what we have already and bucking the ideolody of the masses!

I’m a firm beleiver that the lessons learnt and best practices of the “corporate” world can and should be applied to the small players, without cost being a mitigating factor. Most of today’s “open-source” solutions provide the perfect solution but often require a high level of technical competance.

Enough propoganda, hopefully this online record of my projects helps you in your own way to accomplish your own technical goals!
